In a tent sponsored by the technology company Microsoft from Redmond, Washington, children could decorate virtual Easter eggs, program commands for a robot, and play games from Microsoft's Xbox One video game system. Other activities at the 2019 Easter Egg Roll included egg dying and cookie decorating stations, an egg hunt, hopscotch, and the signature Easter Egg Roll Race. First Lady Melania Trump hosted the event, which has been popular at the White House since President Rutherford B. Hayes first invited local children to play egg rolling games on the South Lawn in 1878.
