The photograph was possibly taken as President Roosevelt made his way back to Washington, D.C. from New York after attending the wedding of his niece Eleanor Roosevelt and future president Franklin D. Roosevelt on March 17, 1905. The two travelling with the president may have been Secret Service men. The Secret Service began fulltime protection of the President of the United States beginning in 1902.
