The Pirates were victorious in the 1979 World Series, while the Steelers were champions in the 1980 Super Bowl. President Carter can be seen speaking with Rubenstein in the Oval Office on his last full day in office, the day before the inauguration of President Ronald Reagan. Rubenstein served as the deputy assistant to the president for domestic policy from 1977-1981. He would later go on to found the Carlyle Group in 1987 and become renowned for his philanthropic work and as a trustee of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Smithsonian Institution, and the National Gallery of Art, among many others.
