Here, they are captured in the Queens' Bedroom, located on the Second Floor of the Executive Mansion. The Queens' Bedroom is named for the royal guests that have stayed there in the White House, including Queen Elizabeth. Also displayed in the room during the Gerald R. Ford administration was a trumeau, a mirror and painting framed together that was presented to President Harry S. Truman and First Lady Bess Truman by Queen Elizabeth II, then Princess Elizabeth, Duchess of Edinburgh, on behalf of her father, King George VI of Great Britain, during her visit to Washington, D.C. in 1951. Mrs. Ford's tour of the White House followed a State Arrival Ceremony held in honor of Queen Elizabeth and her husband, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. The British royals visited the United States from July 6 to 11 in celebration of the American Bicentennial.

The State Dinner was hosted by President Lyndon B. Johnson and First Lady Lady Bird Johnson on the Italian president's 69th birthday. Prominently displayed on the table is a gilded bronze plateau purchased for the White House during the James Monroe administration. After the dinner in the State Dining Room, guests transitioned to the East Room where they enjoyed selections from the musical "Man of La Mancha" by Richard Kiley, who originated the role of Don Quixote in the Broadway production.

    In this photograph, taken on November 25, 1963, First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy and her brother-in-law Senator Edward Kennedy receive guests in the Red Room following the State Funeral for President John F. Kennedy. Here, Mrs. Kennedy shakes hands with Prince Georg Valdemar of Denmark. Also pictured among the distinguished guests are Danish Prime Minister Jens Otto Krag; Prince Jean of Luxembourg; Prince Moulay Abdallah of Morocco; U.S. Chief of Protocol Angier Biddle Duke; and Brig. Gen. Godfrey T. McHugh, Air Force aide to President Kennedy. Following his assassination in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963, Kennedy's body lay in state in the East Room of the White House and the United States Capitol Building prior to burial at Arlington National Cemetery three days later. A funeral service was held at St. Matthew's Cathedral in Washington, D.C.

Placed in front of the mantel is a scale mock-up of the green and white mantelpiece brought to the attention of First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy by Jayne Wrightsman and purchased for the Yellow Oval Room by Mr. and Mrs. John Loeb. After consideration, the mantel was deemed too small for the room and it was eventually incorporated into the redecoration of the Family Dining Room on the State Floor.

The curtains are the multicolored printed cotton originally chosen by Sister Parish who designed the room in the early stages of the Kennedy restoration project in 1961. Sister Parish was a socialite and interior designer who worked with First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in the early stages of her restoration project.

President and Mrs. Kennedy are photographed in front of Mount Vernon alongside President Mohammad Ayub Khan of Pakistan and his daughter, Begum Nasir Akhtar Aurangzeb. Mount Vernon provided the location and backdrop for a State Dinner held in President Khan’s honor and was the first of its kind held outside the White House. Mrs. Kennedy wore a dress designed for her by Oleg Cassini, which she requested be columnar in shape to echo Mount Vernon’s historic facade. Mount Vernon was the estate of President George Washington.

Kennedy is sitting in his reupholstered rocking chair. The meeting was photographed by Robert L. Knudsen on June 15, 1962. Before 1909, the president's office was located in the Executive Mansion. During the William H. Taft administration, the West Wing doubled in size from the 1902 renovation and included a presidential oval office. In 1934, during the Franklin D. Roosevelt administration, the West Wing was expanded and renovated, with the Oval Office relocated to the West Wing’s southeast corner.
