Performance of "The Magic Flute" in the East Room
This photograph is of the Opera Society of Washington’s production of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “The Magic Flute,” following a state dinner in honor of President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan of India. Pictured here from left to right: George Shirley, of the Metropolitan Opera Company; Robert Schmorr, Donald Gramm, Patricia Brooks, and John Reardon, of the New York City Opera Company. The performance took place in the East Room of the White House on June 3, 1963 during the John F. Kennedy administration.
