In this photograph, taken by Amanda Lucidon on October 30, 2013, President Barack Obama pauses outside the Halloween-decorated South Portico and the entryway to the Diplomatic Reception Room. The president was returning to the White House following a trip to Boston, Massachusetts, where he spoke on the Affordable Care Act. For the Halloween festivities in 2013, the South Portico was illuminated in orange and decorated by cobwebs and black and orange garlands. Other decorations for the occasion included over 185 carved jack o'lanterns and reused Bo and Sunny pipecleaner and ribbon topiaries from the White House winter holiday celebrations.

This photograph of the Old Family Dining Room was taken on February 9, 2015 by Amanda Lucidon, during the Barack Obama administration. The room opened to public tours for the first time on Tuesday, February 10, 2015. From 1825 to 1962, presidents and their families traditionally dined in the Old Family Dining Room. In 1962 with the addition of a new private family dining room on the Second Floor of the White House, the room was repurposed for small official dinners, working lunches, and also serves as a staging area for state dinners. Located on the State Floor of the White House, the room features architectural details such as elegant plasterwork and vaulted ceilings.

This photograph is of First Lady Michelle Obama presenting the new state service in the China Room of the White House in April 2015. A Madison plate can be seen on the table. The Obama china drew inspiration from previous state services, including the Madison china.
