The event featured performers and costumed characters including Babar the Elephant, puppeteer Shari Lewis, Smokey Bear and walking six-foot eggs. Children attending the event received souvenir wooden eggs that were painted yellow to honor military personnel serving in Iraq and Kuwait.

Quayle, are pictured with their three children Tucker, Ben, and Corinne as well as two of the family's dogs. It is possible that the dog held by the Quayle's daughter, Corrine, is Barnaby, the family's Black Labrador Retriever.

Quayle participate in a Hanukkah celebration in the Old Executive Office Building. During the ceremony, religious leaders from the Synagogue Council of America presented President Bush with a menorah that was later displayed at the White House. This was the first time a menorah was displayed at the White House. Located west of the White House, the Old Executive Office Building was formerly called the State, War, and Navy Building and later renamed the Eisenhower Executive Office Building after President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
