The Nixons met Queen Elizabeth Prime Minister Heath at Chequers, the Buckinghamshire country residence for the sitting prime minister. The visit followed a June 1970 visit to the White House by Prince Charles and Princess Anne.

In this photograph, taken in the East Room on November 4, 1971, President Richard M. Nixon and First Lady Pat Nixon pose with Indira Gandhi and New York City Ballet performers Pat McBride (middle), and Edward J. Villella (middle-left), guitarist William Schustick (middle-right), and Conductor Hugo Fiorato, conductor (right) during a State Dinner. Gandhi (1917-1984) was the first and to date only female Prime Minister of India, and was the daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India following the country's independence from Great Britain.

The Nixons hosted a State Visit for Prime Minister Hilmar Baunsgaard of Denmark, and his wife on this day.
