Starting September 5, 1978, President Carter hosted Begin and Egyptian President Anwar Sadat at Camp David for 13 days of peace negotiations. The event culminated in the signing of the Camp David Accords on September 17, 1978, which established a framework for peace between Egypt and Israel.
