This photograph was taken around February 1922. It shows a group of unidentified men in the West Garden, including some dressed in traditional American Indian attire and headdresses. Several people and a dog converse the West Terrace above. The dog is likely Laddie Boy, President Warren G. Harding's Airedale terrier. The West Garden was reimagined as a green theater for official ceremonies and rededicated as the Rose Garden during the John F. Kennedy administration.

Here, President Barack Obama leads Bo, one of the first family's Portuguese Water Dogs, down the steps of the South Portico. He is joined by the official White House Easter Bunny, who carries a bunch of balloons, commemorating the fifth anniversary of First Lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move!" campaign. The theme of the official White House Easter Egg Roll in 2015 was #GimmeFive, which commemorated the fifth anniversary of the initiative by challenging the public to incorporate five new healthy habits into their daily routine, and share their positive lifestyle choices on social media. The event featured sports and fitness zones, cooking demonstrations, storytelling, appearances by costumed characters, musical performances, and classic seasonal activities such as an egg hunt and egg roll race. Performers at the event included rapper Diggy, girl group Fifth Harmony, pop duo MKTO, the cast of the Broadway musical "Newsies," “So You Think You Can Dance" all-star contestants, and entertainers from the classic children's television show "Sesame Street."

This photograph by Matthew D'Agostino was taken on July 1, 2015. In this photograph, Sunny, one of President Barack Obama's dogs, welcome visitors in the East Garden Room. Visitors to the White House that day were the first following the lifting of a 40 year restriction on cameras and photography. The restriction was lifted by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama due to the emergence of cell phone cameras, advances in technology, and White House-related social media. The restriction had initially been enacted due to the severity of flash cameras on the priceless pieces of fine and decorative arts in the house.

This photograph is from the Herbert E. French Collection at the Library of Congress, which captured life in Washington, D.C., from the Wilson to the Hoover administrations.
