    This black and white photograph depicts the indoor pool of the White House built in 1933 during the administration of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. In 1970, the indoor pool was converted into the White House Press Room. An outdoor pool replaced the indoor pool in 1975. Lorenzo Simmons Winslow designed the room with Douglas H. Gillette as an engineer.

    This post-1935 color photograph, taken by Abbie Rowe, depicts the Library, located on the Ground Floor of the White House, after its creation during the administration of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Previously a storage room, architect Lorenzo S. Winslow implemented Georgian-style panels, mantel, and bookcases. Blue-and-white Delft tiles affix the fireplace surround.
